But I will indulge your "I know" self by giving you three simple steps that will get you from I know to I'll show you what I have been doing.
Step 1: Be Honest
Alright, start getting the tissues out because this is going to sting. You are full of shit. Yes, I said it; you are full of shit and are the best at soothing the truth. You are weak asf, and yes, it is all your doing and no one else's. You don't take responsibility for your actions, and you are quick to blame others. Alright, now take a deep breath and pause for a second. Just like you, I was in the same boat. I was full of shit and straight-up lying to myself. That is how I almost gained 300 lbs and was in denial about what I was doing. So I had to start with a picture and see what I have become. For you, it might be that you hear it from a neutral party or someone that wants the best for you. It might be that you have to write down honestly where you are. Growth is painful sometimes, and it is okay that you aren't on the path. It's just not alright that you stay there. So suck it up and start with being honest to begin becoming accountable truly.
Step 2: Realize that Nothing is Random
Step 2 has a solid correlation between stepping one. The first line of truth, your actions, and thoughts, has gotten you to the position you are now. The beauty in that statement is that even someone with no beliefs in anything can grasp that concept. What you do have a direct correlation to what is produced. Think about when you went after something and achieved it. Your actions and thoughts got you to where you wanted to be. Your efforts are aligned so that opportunities can be present and achievement possible. Stop being aimless and doing just for the sake of doing. Take your Time and scope out your moves and act accordingly because it matters. At the moment, it may mean nothing, but trust that someone down the line your actions or lack of activities will get you to your destinations.
Step 3: Pick one Area to Focus at one Time
This is probably one of the hardest things for people to do. It is hard to pick one piece of the puzzle and spend Time studying it and understanding it. You don't like to do the same thing over and over and over again until you have mastered it. But on the other side, you have tried to do it all at one time. It worked for a short while until you burnt yourself out. Think about how many times you have started a new years resolution. You mapped out all these focus areas and said I would be a brand new person after this year. But what was the reality… you stopped, lol. So if you would have said, I will master this one thing before I move on and try something else. Implementing this type of resolve will create long-lasting accountability to the max.
Accountability doesn't have to be an arduous task to accomplish. The simplest things in life are usually the answers that you are seeking. Of course, the absolute worst thing you could do is nothing. But if you want to stop being the bane to your existence, then implement these simple practices.
